[Hoo boy. He's been thinking of how to approach this, because that whole thing is KIND OF REALLY EMBARRASSING TO THINK ABOUT but..........anyways. The man was...nice, he has to admit.]
[A little hello isn't too bad, right?]
Hey, this is Steinbeck. That guy with the grapevines a while ago. Just wanted to say hi and see how you were doing. I mean, if that isn't weird. Just wanted to. I thought you were kind of cool.
[Haha he shouldn't send that last part that's weird time to hit the backspace - OH NO, GOD, HE HIT THE ENTER KEY!!! NO!!!!]
[ ... well that sure wasn't a message he expected to receive. After a small delay: ]
Hello Steinbeck.
I've been faring well enough, though I cannot pretend the ghostly proceedings in the past week weren't exhausting. It seems the city has been quite recently, which brings much relief.
Though it isn't a term I use often, I suppose I could say you are also cool.
[ He's never really updated his vocabulary with modern-day slang, so that word sure feels strange to write, but ... it feels proper to say in return. This isn't weird or anything, right??? ]
[ What, there's nothing at all embarrassing about straight-facedly saying your acquaintance is totally cool! ]
Very few humans would be able to emulate the full extent of my golemancy. That is simply the nature of what I am. [ Not to like, brag or anything, just saying it as a fact. ] But as far as abilities go, your own plant control is far beyond what most mages would be able to wield. You've no need to feel inferior.
I know of someone capable of something similar. Though gruesome, it has its applications and is thus worthy of respect.
[ Sorry he's agreeing it's a lil gross, he's bad at dealing with too much blood. :( ]
Mine is derived from a branch of magecraft called Kabbalah. I was one of its originators, however. I'm unsure if that would qualify it as a 'personal ability.' It seems a curious distinction. Can you explain?
[completely 1000% understandable, his power is Hecked Up]
What was that person able to do?
Back home there's a few select people who we call "ability users". I'm one of them. As far as I know, nobody really understand how they work. Sometimes abilities are passed down, but most of the time they just appear in random people at different ages. Not even sure if it's magic or not.
That's why I always find it interesting when people know where their powers came from. Seems like you do - since you helped make it!
[ It's usually considered poor etiquette to give away other Servants' abilities, but well ... Lancer's not here any more. And it's not like he'll be connecting a name to the ability. ]
He was capable of manifesting stakes. Within his own body, if he wished.
[ 'Ability users,' though. He's pretty sure Atsushi (the younger) gave him a similar explanation in the past. Are they from the same world? Though the term itself is vague enough that he could imagine more than one world sharing the same vocabulary. ]
I see. For people to be granted abilities without reason is quite unusual, and can potentially be dangerous.
Most magical systems I'm aware of have rules in place, spoken or unspoken. As such, I have to assume some manner of pattern exists. Do you truly have no guesses on why your ability would manifest in the manner it does?
Stakes?? Like wooden ones? That's really cool, but that feels like it could hurt a whole lot.
And for sure it's dangerous. I'm glad we're pretty rare.
[It would such a huge problem if everyone was just an anime author superpowered.]
I can't guess at any pattern. It just kind of happens. I think it's really rare for families to have it. It's more like...a mutation. Just happens randomly, to anyone.
sticks leg out

I've been good! Glad that's all done honestly.
And thanks, I guess. [SIGHS] Though I can't do the golem stuff you can do.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Most people at home think its gross, but I like to think it's a pretty useful ability. :)
By the way, is it like magic? The way you make your golems, I mean. Or is it more like your personal ability?
