( she never gets this far. alright, time to make this look good. )
see back home, i'm a captain and i had a whole crew on my ship and we'd fight bad guys and help people, stuff like that. save the world from ending so i'm trying to build that back up. i want to say we're like pirates but not really but imagine pirates in the sky but superheroes at the same time. does that sound cool? i hope so because we really are! and you also get two captains!
( okay.. maybe she thought his little mice golems were cute, and wants him to join, honestly this is how one makes friends in granblue fantasy. )
( she places a hand to her chest as her heart swells with pride because it's true, she started off at a young age, but with the people she's met along the way — things became easier. truthfully, if it wasn't for the letter from her father, and coming into contact with lyria, she probably wouldn't be here now. )
it's been a few years but i've grown up and learned from my mistakes. i even know where my advantages are.
and a good captain can tell when looking at someone if they'll be a life changing experience. that's what i see when i look at you, not because you remind me of someone back home but i feel like.. you'll teach me something and i'll give back to you tenfold!
( that's what she believes, there's just something about him that she can't place her finger on, but the bonds of friendship have always brought out great strengths. )
funny story, a few people of my crew are already here. it's just.. they didn't remember me but that's not why i'm gathering an entire new crew, no way! i just want to protect what's dear to all of us and we can't do that if we're small. we're a family that has to keep growing. so i was trying to see if, you know, you would join the family. lots of weird things happen here and working alone is no good!
[ She definitely reminds him of his Master, what with her genuine cheer and friendliness. Which makes it all the more difficult to say what he's about to say. ]
In that case, I'll have to decline.
[ He doesn't even mean it harshly, but the cold sterility of text tends to make his blunt mannerisms seem even more aloof. At least he doesn't just leave it at that. Maybe she can sense the quiet weariness in his words. ]
I'm not the sort of person you would wish to associate yourself so closely with. And I'm poor at contributing to any sense of camaraderie. My presence would be of no help.
You're free to consider me an ally if you wish. I don't mind assisting you during difficult times, given the strange nature of this city. But there are others better suited for your crew.
( she pauses, not at all embarrassed, but slightly defeated or perhaps it's because she sounds way too desperate. whatever it could be, she's reading the text over and over again in hopes she could find some sort of loophole to drag him over. she thought a captain's intuition would help her this time, but that doesn't seem to be the case. )
i'm not wishing, i'm being proactive and doing!
( what do they call that.. a for effort? )
i wish i could say that you're right but i know many people who kinda stay to themselves it's why i, the cute and adamant captain, is here to drag you around everywhere. you've been here longer than me, i'm sure of it so even if you don't help punch wise. mind wise, you have to know something!
( he just looks smart, and djeeta's braincells... small. )
you're probably not wrong, there's so many people i can ask but i asked you.. but you said no. so this is where i should give up right? but i can tell you now i won't! but i am on your side if you're ever in need of something, allies now but crew mate one day, i can feel it
[ He does feel some prickle of guilt at having put a damper on her enthusiasm, but he hasn't said anything wrong. Because while he's not opposed to assisting towards a greater goal or fulfilling a duty ... Djeeta's crew is one chosen voluntarily. In which case, she can afford to be pickier.
Someone like him doesn't belong in such a place.
Still, he won't begrudge her proactiveness, even if he's not planning on changing his mind. ]
You've a commendable attitude. It's good to be earnest during one's youth. I can see why you would be relied upon as a captain.
[ Just to make it clear that he's not refusing because of any flaw on her end. It's him, not her. ]
But you've no need to take me into your crew to request information of me. You're correct in that I've been here for some time. Someone of my nature is poorly suited to the atmosphere of this city, and there's much that remains unclear. I cannot promise anything, but if you have any questions I will answer what I can.
what if i got my other half to help, would that change your mind? or is there some way i can impress that you're just blown away by my charisma
( it's not the first time her offer has been rejected, and she doubts it'll be the last considering if this is how she brings up asking people to join. he may have won the battle, but he has not won the war! )
i sort of feel bad if i can't give anything in return for having your information in a crew its like we all strive towards a same goal but now i have to make sure i repay you as much as you help me which that's not a bad thing, not at all! i'll work hard anyway.. i meant what i said back then. my blade is all yours
( everyone knows how that goes, the whole "you've became friends with djeeta! she'll die for you now!" )
[ NO DYING FOR STRANGERS, y'all mobage protags gotta chill. ]
I don't require or expect repayment. But if it would put you at ease, you're free to tell me of these magic users you mentioned. I'm interested in learning about the magecraft systems of other worlds.
[ That said, he sighs quietly to himself. ]
My refusal is not due to a lack of abilities or charisma on your end. Nor is it a slight on your crew. It simply would not benefit you to associate too closely with someone like me.
Though I must confess to being rather curious about your 'other half.' I assume you're referring to your other captain.
( STOP.. IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE... what's living if you can't die for your friends......... )
magecraft? is that what they call it in other worlds... well, everyone back home sort of uses a certain element that pertains to their powers? but my friend io is really good with magic, she can do everything from healing to various light magic! i know a bit of magic too but not in this class, kengo doesn't get too much
( not the wierdest thing she's said so far. )
with that way of thinking you're right, we're meant to benefit each other. you can't get rid of me now. yeah, that's my other half. remember how i said my crew didn't remember me, well in an alternate universe.. he's me but a loser? think if you had a little gremlin or maybe a rat that listened to everything you said because it's whipped. that's him. most of my crew remembered him but it's fine now, they consider us both captains now!
[ Especially considering he's her 'other half'? Maybe she's a little bitter that her crewmates remember him, and not her? He wouldn't blame her for it, if that were the case.
Well, setting aside that, and the potential to give her a big long lecture about the differences between magic and magecraft, and her apparent insistence on eventually winning him over (???), something else catches his attention. ]
I'd like to ask what you mean by 'classes.' I'm familiar with a concept that seems quite similar to what you're describing, but I've never seen it applied to humans before.
[ 'Not in this class' does sound like what a Servant would say about being summoned in a less-than-ideal class container, after all. ]
no no! i care for him as much as i care for myself. he's said the same thing about me.. kind of? he didn't use the term rat but something else. so you could say we just jab at each other every so often.
( they're almost like siblings and everyone knows that siblings hardly see eye to eye on anything. )
we have outfits that we can wear that changes the weapon proficiency we can use. if i wore my elysian outfit, i can only use harps and daggers. i was able to have my kengo outfit and a few others when coming here so with kengo that's only katanas and bows. kinda like that? my other half has his runeslayer get up so he can use magic and a few weapons.

hm! let's see.. i could try something and see if it works

I would not have guessed you to be old enough to lead such an operation. Your abilities must inspire great confidence.
[ Given what he'd seen of her comfort with a sword back in the graveyard, he has to assume she's at least partly truthful about this whole affair. ]
Are you seeking to gather a new crew in this city?
